Where Was God?

Where was God
On that cruel September day?
Did He just turn His face
And look the other way?

Was He caught by surprise
Just like all American's were?
Or was He powerless to intervene
And so He just allowed it to occur?

Some say this was the wrath of God
Because many have drifted far away
But when God pours out His wrath
He, not man, will choose the day.

God is surprised by nothing
He knew the "when" and "how".
He also knew the "who" of it
And He isn't absent now.

God was very busy that day
Instilling courage and promoting selfless acts
Busy uniting a divided people
Who on Him had turned their back.

He placed a special courage
In the hearts of Flight 93
They gave their lives in Pennsylvania
For the sake of hundreds in Washington D.C.

The evil stopped in these terrorists hearts
And our God's goodness continues to rule
Self-centered Americans rally to a greater cause
Better priorities and stronger faith are their fuel.

He made neighbors out of strangers
As they risked their lives to help each other
Those buried beneath the World Trade debris
Weren't just strangers but their brothers.

America, this is your wake-up call
Return to Him before it's too late
It is His desire to heal our wounded nation
If we turn back to Him in repentance and faith.

Lord, be with us in the days to come
As 2 Chronicles 7:14 we claim
This verse holds the answer
To make America strong and whole again!

2 Chronicles 7:14.....if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
