This page is for those who want to know what makes someone a Christian.
It is also a useful resource for those of you who find it hard to evangelise,
or struggle to explain how to become a Christian.

Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. (John 14:6)

 

The Roman Road
(from the book of Romans)

This road will lead you to becoming a Christian, and therefore being sure that you are going to heaven.

1. Romans 3:23
"for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God..."

This is saying simply that everyone is a sinner and therefore separated from God.

2. Romans 6:23(a)
"For the wages of sin is death..."

We all deserve to die. We are all condemned to hell because of our rebellion.

Romans 6:23(b)

"...but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord."

God gave a gift of eternal life in Jesus. It is nothing to do with ourselves, we can only receive it.

3. Romans 5:8

"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

He loved us, even while we were away from Him.

4. Romans 10:9-10, 13
"...if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation...For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved."

We must believe and have faith in God raising Jesus from the dead. So we know it's enough; we must say He is Lord, and therefore OUR Lord. God is merciful - EVERYONE who calls on Jesus will be saved.

Today, the best I know how, I trust you as my Lord and my Saviour. Please forgive me for all I have done wrong and help me to live for You. I will depend on You from this moment on for my salvation. Please fill me with your Holy Spirit and guide me in all I do and say. Thankyou. Amen.
