Walker Kennel's Hub Dawson  No 406

In 1910 , hound owner and breeder, Alex Parrish named a young Walker hound for a minor league baseball player . That players' name was "Hub Dawson".

Hub Dawson was sired by Sport in 1910. His dam was Fan Parrish and. John B. Parks was the breeder.  Hub Dawson was hit by a train while he was running in the National and his Littermate Alex Dawson was hit by a train in Kentucky. Both survived but this left them unable to Participate in field trials. However they both proved to be great Sires. They came from one of the strongest of the Walker lines,  Their sire From the Scrape line and their dam from the Arp line. A  1916 Red Ranger Magazine showed that Hub Dawson stood for stud service for $12.50 and Alex Dawson at $15.00. Hub Dawson  Sired two National field champions-R.D. William's "ED" (Hub Dawson-Mag) in 1914 and J.D. Chenault's "Cull"(Hub Dawson-Mag) in 1916.

There are three Hub Dawsons that appear often in Walker hound history & pedigrees . There is the original Hub Dawson No. 406 (Sport-Fan Parrish). The second Hub Dawson is Obendahl & Mckenna's Hub Dawson No. 3859 who was whelped on Oct. 3, 1918 and was sired by Hub Dawson No.406 and out of Audrey Alford II. The third Hub Dawson was Walker's Hub Dawson No. 5600 who was whelped on March 31, 1923 and was sired by Obendahl & Mckenna's Hub Dawson No. 3859 and out of Midway No.2401 . Walker's Hub Dawson No. 5600 was a littermate to Wooldridges Raider Dawson No. 5483 .

The hounds Known as "Raider hounds" originated from the breeding by S.L. Woolridge of  Hub Dawson No. 3859  to Midway No.2401 in 1923 that produced Raider Dawson No. 5483  . Midway  was by Big Stride out of Tena.  Raider Dawson was bred to Donie Parish in 1925 by S.I Biffle and produced Ray Raider. Ray Raider sired Tom Crowe, Big Jester, Big Joker, and Red Love(won the National Futurity in 1931) when he was bred to Hannah who by White Rowdy.
