Northern Eagles V Brisbane Broncos

North Power Stadium

The featured match on this page is the round 26 clash between  the Northern Eagles & the Brisbane Broncos at North Power Stadium.

Poor referee Tony "Havachat" Archer is all alone in this photo - maybe the players don't want to listen to him either...

Game on! Northern Eagles prepare for a kickoff.
Wendell Sailor's final regular season game was one of his best all season.
The Eagles spend more time in their own in goal area.
Eagles winger John Hopoate meets a human Broncos wall headed by Wendell Sailor. As play continues.....
.... Eagles skipper Geoff Toovey appeals to the referee to call held......
...... but the ball comes free in the tackle.

Broncos skipper Darren Lockyer prepares for a kick at goal and was one of the Broncos' better players.
My word, that is a big sand castle!
This photo sums up the Eagles season. Some players frustrated, others resigned to what is happening.
Dancing Broncos?

Broncos players receive supplies from their Head Trainer after another try.
Mark O'Meley like most of the Eagles players have an uncertain future. Will he be an Eagle in 2002?
Brett Kimmorley argues the toss unsuccessfully with referee Tony Archer.
Brett Kimmorley looks to his outside to pass but most of his team appear to be on the inside.
"Did you hear the one about the Englishman, the Irishman & the Australian?"

With Wendell Sailor going to rugby union, Lote Tuqiri will become the number 1 winger for the Broncos.
Wendell Sailor applauds the Sydney based Bronco fans after his last regular season game before heading to Union.
The Broncos head to the eastern side of the field after the game to thank their supporters.
Luke Priddis is Penrith bound in 2002. He played strongly for the Broncos throughout his career but was allowed to leave the club.
Speaking of 2002, will Eagles star Brett Kimmorley turn his back on the club?

The match of Broncos centre Chris Walker can be summed up in this series of photos. He ended the match in pain from what looked to be cramp. I'm not sure what the sign to the Broncos fan was supposed to mean.
