Warmth of Love

Hold fast,
true heart,
to warmth of love
as evening's chill draws near.
Let ardent spirits spark a flame
that's cautious not to sear.

The bitter night
cares not its prey,
nor stars and moon above.
Give thanks,
true heart,
that passion's wrap
provides the warmth of love.

The Rose That Will Not Die

Encircled
in a crystal crypt
severed
from its vine of life
left to thirst
for nurtured tend
untouched again
by nature's strife

a quick display
to thus remind
a lover's pledge, so true
enchanting scent
the scarlet glow,
passion's flame renewed

alas, most beauties fade
with time
fallen petals
cast aside,
cling to the memory
that love prevails . . .
a sacred rose
that will not die
