Lost and Found

The ray of afternoon sun woke Mariah. 'Awh, I slept tha' long?' thinking thus, she wrapped the
blanket around her bare shoulders. Cold wind.
Sleep has been coy and either it is fitful or dreamless and deathlike, ever since she started worrying about Jason. He had
disappeared too long. Too long for a mining trip.
Rising slowly, she started dressing herself, recalling the conversation she had with Testerion last night at the tavern. He has
been visiting her faithfully in Edinburgh.
"So, hae ye seen Danae?"
"Aye, she is in Jason's place, hardly ever get out"
"Nawt e'en fer huntin' food?"
….
Worry dawned upon her so overwhelmingly strong. "Danae…."
Rushing outside, she untied her horse, and galloped with it away from Edinburgh.
"Oh, wha' hae I been thinkin' last eve, why dinnawt I think o'doin dis earlier"

It was already nighttime when she finally reached Winterfell. Riding slower now, she sees the row of familiar houses and the
sandstone patio….. , She could see a flicker of faint light from underneath the door.
She stopped her horse some distance away from the house, then opening the door, she stepped in quietly. She discovered
that the light came from the lantern on the nightstand, and on the bed was Danae's sleeping form, curling like a cat. She looked
fearfully thin. The short black fur on her cheek wet, the cougar is crying in her sleep. Mariah so much wanted to just hug and
comfort Danae, but something stopped her, the same something that she thought had kept her sane and alive this far. She
remembered the last time she met Danae at Empath Abbey, she could still hear her saying, that she had been pushing Danae
away, building an impenetrable wall around her to avoid getting hurt. An accusation she had vehemently denied, but painfully
true.
Looking around, she saw that the little house is carefully taken care of, not a thing had changed it still as if Jason was still here.
A small whimper from Danae alerted her. "O, Dana, wha' hae I done ter ye" she whispers softly "me kitten, I shinnae leave ye
ainymure, stay hiere I wud, wi' or wi'out Jason"
Outside the night is getting older, the full moon shone through the window, shedding light on the sleeping cougar and the gypsy
kneeling next to her. And all is quiet.
