KARATE CLASSES OFFERED
AT BASE YOUTH CENTER

All the Bruce Lees and Chuck Norrises between the ages of five and 18 have the
chance to start at the beginning level and work their way up to the advance level in all
Karate and kung fu styles. The McClellan Youth center is now offering self-defense
classes every Monday and Wednesday from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. at Hanger 5-18 in Capehart
Housing.
Instructing the class is Master Ed Porter. Porter's credentials read like a
who's who in the martial arts world. He holds the rank of Go Dan (fifth degree black
belt); in the Shorei Go Ju Ryu style of Karate, and a third degree brown belt in the Moto
Bu Ha Shito Ryu Karate Style, Seishin Kai Karate Union, Osaka, Japan, with Kodokan Judo
Sankyu ranking (3rd degree brown belt) Judo Black Belt Federation AAU United States Judo
Federation, Tokyo, Japan.
Porter is the director and chief instructor of the House of Ninjota School of
Self-Defense here in Sacramento. He has studied martial arts for more than 15 years
and has more than 12 years of reaching experience. He began his studies in 1965, at the
age of 15 back in his native hometown, Chicago, Illinois.
Through the study program being offered students in this program, self-control,
self-defense skills, insight, focus, body conditioning and awareness will highlight the
course of instruction.
