Aragorn
Aragorn is the heir of Isuldur and heir to the Throne of Gondor. Aragorn meets Frodo and the Hobbits under the identity of Strider, a ranger that looks everything besides a King. Gandalf knows his descent, however, and knows the large role he must play in the War of the Ring. Aragorn was raised in Rivendell where he met and fell in love with Arwen Evenstar, the daughter of Elrond. It was also in Rivendell that the Isuldur's sword that was broken, was forged again and Aragorn gave it the name of Anduril, the Flame of the West. It was Aragorn that walked the Paths of the Dead and with the Army he gathered there he conquered the Corsairs and played a crucial role in the victory of Minas Tirith. After the War of the Ring, Aragorn claimed his Throne of Gondor and became King. He married Arwen and lived a long life untill he died in 120 F.O. Soon after Arwen also died in Lorien.
Denethor
Denethor was the last Steward of the Gondor as soon after his death King Elessar took the Thrown. Denethor had two sons: Boromir and Faramir. Boromir was by far his favourite and so it hurt him a lot when he learned that Boromir had fallen at the breaking of the Fellowship. So it came that when Gandalf and Pippin came to Minas Tirith, Pippin was interrogated by Denethor about the circumstances of the death of Boromir. Pippin became a Guard of Minas Tirith by swearing loyalty to Gondor. During the battle of the Pelennor fields Denethor became mad and wanted to burn his only wounded son Faramir. Luckily he was stopped by Pippin and Gandalf and Faramir was saved. Denethor burned to death however. They then discovered that he had a Palantir and that he had been in contact with Mordor. Denethor died on March 15, 3019.
Boromir
Boromir is the son of Denethor II, the Steward of Gondor, and brother of Faramir. He was send to Rivendell to ask for support for Minas Tirith. During the Council of Elrond he was selected to represent the Humans of Middle-Earth together with Aragorn. Boromir wanted to take the Fellowship of the Ring to Minas Tirith instead of going to Mordor. He secretly wanted to use the Ring for himself to use it to destroy the power of Sauron. At the breaking of the Fellowship he tried to convince Frodo of the fact that it would be wiser to give the ring to him. When Frodo refused, Boromir got very angry and Frodo fled and left for Mordor. Boromir was then attacked by orcs and he blew his big horn. He was eventually killed by many black arrows and that is how Aragorn found him. Boromir regretted his deeds and asked Aragorn to save Minas Tirith and his people. Boromir died on 26 Februari 3019 T.A.
Faramir
Faramir is the brother of Boromir and son of Denethor II, the last ruling Steward of Gondor. He did not like warfare as much as Boromir and he was more focussed on lore and music. This made him the least favourite son of Denethor who often mocked him and favoured Boromir. While Faramir was patrolling in Ithilien he encountered Frodo and Sam and he partly learned about the quest of the Ring and the creature named Gollum. Faramir was severely injured during his efforts to defend Gondor as he was struck by a poisoned arrow that gave him black fever. Soon after his father Denethor became mad and tried to burn him. Faramir was saved just in time and he was healed by Aragorn. During his recovery he fell in love with Eowyn and after curing her of her dispair she also fell in love with him. They wed and after the War of the Ring they lived in the hills of Emyn Arnen.
Théoden
King Theoden was the ruler of Rohan and he ruled his lands from the Golden Hall in Edoras. When Gandalf arrived in the Golden Hall to urge King Theoden to fight Saruman, he did not receive the welcome he had hoped for. Wormtongue, a spy of Saruman, had been whispering evil counsel in the ear of the King for a long time and the king had lost all his powers. Gandald revived him however and remembered him of the strenght he still possesed. Wormtongue was dismissed and King Theoden rode out once again to fight the enemy. His greatest deeds were done during the battle on the Pelennor fields where he stood vast and challenged the Lord of the Nazgul. His horse however could not stand the terror of the Lord of the Nazgul and fell upon King Theoden crushing him to death. Thus King Theoden died heroically on March 15, 3019.
Ëomer
Eomer was adopted together with his sister Eowyn by King Theoden of Rohan when their parents died. Eomer was a Marshall of the Mark when he encountered Aragorn, Gimli and Legolas during their pursuit of Merry and Pippin through Rohan. Although he first doubted the intentions of this strange group he soon learned the true identity of Aragorn. It was also Eomer who attacked and killed the group of Orcs that had captured Merry and Pippin allowing them to escape into Fangorn Forest. Aragorn and Eomer met again as Aragorn had predicted to fight side by side at the defense of Helm's Deep. After the battle for Helm's Deep he also rode to Minas Tirith to help in the defense of the city. After the death of King Theoden and the injuring of Eowyn, Eomer was overcome with anger as he led the Riders of the Mark to fight the enemy. After the Battle of the Pelennor Fields he was happy to learn that Eowyn could be healed. Eomer became the new King of the Mark.
Ëowin
Eowyn served in the house of King Theoden of Rohan together with her brother Eomer. Her desire to go into battle made her take the identity of a Rider of the Mark. This is how she joined King Theoden in the battle of the Pelennor fields under the name of Dernhelm. As King Theoden was crushed by his own horse and all fled before the Lord of the Nazgul she stood vast and revealed her true identity to her enemy. After killing the winged creature that the Lord of Nazgul was riding on, she was attacked by him and he broke her arm. It was Merry who had riden with her to Gondor who then attacked the Lord of the Nazgul from behind. Eowyn then struck him right under his crown and killed him. She was badly injured and was healed by Aragorn in the Houses of Healing. During her recovery she met Faramir who had fallen in love with her. After loosing her dispair she also fell in love with him. They wed and after the War of the Ring they lived in the hills of Emyn Arnen.
