Northern Calif. Union divers are paid by the day, not by the hour up to 8 hours. It makes no difference if he is wet for 5 minutes or 7 hours, the pay is the same up to 8 hours. This is $335.04 a day. This breaks down to $41.88 hour. All overtime is double time. $83.76 hr. Tenders rate is $245.04 a day. 8 hour minimum. Tender overtime is $61,26 hour. Gear rental is $30.00 a day and $20.00 day if diver furnishes his own compressor. Most companys don't pay for gear rental. Gear rental rates have not increased in 25 years.. Depth pay starts at 50 ft. 50-100 ft. $132.00 per ft. 100 to 160 ft. $66.00 + $1.85 in excess of 100 ft. 150 to 200 ft. $158.00 + $2.65 ft in excess of 150 ft.. 95% of the work in Northern Cali. is from 5 to 60 ft.. There is also a premium for penetration and a premium for tenders when the diver excedes 50 ft.
