Your health and the Five Seasons

An interesting and practical holiday in a beautiful Crete location.

In China there are five seasons -Spring, Summer, Late Summer, Autumn and Winter. Each season is associated with an important internal organThe traditional Chinese approach to health incorporates the idea that the seasons have an important influence on our well-being. Built up on the observations of a largely farming community over hundreds of years, an active approach to health in response to the seasons can act as a strong preventative. It can also help to explain and treat many seasonal illnesses.

This course centres on practical ideas, information and activities. It includes an introduction to the nature of each season, descriptions of the work that these organs do for us, causes of imbalance in each organ and how to avoid them, diagrams showing the relevant Energy channels, some common signs and symptoms of things going wrong.

Each session will also include relevant Chi Gung health exercises and other practical ways of maintaining your health and energy throughout the seasons, including the use of a number of acupressure points. Plenty of handouts will be provided - if you want to make extra notes and drawings - pen and paper would be useful. Loose informal clothing is most suitable for the course.

In general the course activities will take place in the mornings, leaving afternoons free to rest, relax or explore what the locality has to offer. Meet together in the evenings for getting to know each other and any discussion topics you would like to suggest.

Optional extras available in the afternoon (each lasting one hour) are:

Full Traditional Chinese Diagnosis, with your personal diagnostic record to take away

Acupressure treatments session,

Tui-Na Health Massage, through thin clothing or with body oil.

Individual Chi Gung tuition.

The Course Leader is Anthony Horrocks, of Three Treasures Health, a practising therapist working with a team of doctors in Taunton, Somerset, England.

He supports people in their health care through Acupuncture, Acupressure, Tui-Na (Chinese medical massage). and Chi Gung. He developed his skills in Traditional Chinese Medicine through teachers in the UK, USA and in Beijing, China where he also worked in a Traditional Chinese hospital and clinic.

He holds Certificate of Studies of the Beijing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, a Diploma in Tui-Na and is a member of the World Academic Society of Medical Ch Gung. He is also a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development

The Centre is perched on a mountainside in southwest Crete on the outskirts of the small village of Azogires, overlooking the valley winding down to the dazzling blue of the Mediterranean. 7 kilometres down the mountain road to the pretty town of Paleochora. This is the nearest centre with shops, tavernas, beaches, post office, launderette, medical centre and banks.

is for groups of up to 16 people in twin and double-bedded rooms. The rooms are simple but spacious, each with it's own shower and toilet. Rooms have south-facing balconies overlooking the valley winding down to the sea. The Centre is surrounded by garden and extensive ancient olive groves and orchards with orange, lemon, fig, mulberry and lime trees, oleanders, cypresses, jasmine and other fragrant plants.

The Azogires staff will cater for breakfast every day and for evening meals on five days. This leaves lunch up to the groups themselves and two ”free” evenings for dining out.

Azogires staff can help to find flights to nearest airport - Chania. The airport is about one and half to two hours by road from the Centre. Taxi transfer costs £30 each way. The Centre will co-ordinate people to share. Some kind of transport is advisable. Car hire arranged through the Centre can be as little as £25 each based on 4 - 6 people sharing.

For the Course, accommodation, breakfasts and five evening meal:

£350 per person based on two people sharing double or twin room.

Single occupancy supplement: £90 per person

Optional Extras: £25 per person per hour session, bookable on arrival at the centre

Please note: The fees do not include any road, air travel or holiday insurance costs.

1)You are responsible for insurance and travel costs.

2) If you cancel up to 21 days before start date of the holiday, only your deposit will be retained. If you cancel less than 21 days before the start date the whole payment will be retained.

3) If you are currently receiving treatment for any medical condition you should consult your doctor/physician before joining the course. Please remember to bring any medication with you.

4) Please look after your personal property during your holiday; we do not accept any liability for loss or damage. This should be covered by your holiday insurance.
