Sun, Sea and Sweat

A holiday for body and soul! As well as plenty of time to go to the beach, walk, rest or just hang out with Ouzo or coffee in the nearby town of Paleochora, each day we'll be dancing the 5Rhythms.

The rhythms are a simple, catalytic movement practice that takes you from inertia to ecstasy and lands you back on your feet. We¹ll be diving into the rhythms to help us to let go of life back home and open up to the sun, the sea and this incredible landscape, which was the home of ecstatic dance in ancient Minoan times. The dance sessions won¹t be heavily structured - the emphasis will be more on finding your own way with the rhythms, to reach into your heart and allow yourself to dance your own dance, alone or with others.

Many say that this is the most beautiful part of Crete, being relatively undeveloped. There will be opportunities to go to local sites as well as the beach, such as sea caves and beautiful gorges. Adam will lead an optional expedition up the  truly spectacular mountain of Gingalos, which rises above the Samarian Gorge. There will also be time to go to a sacred cave within walking distance of the centre.

The centre where we¹re staying is in the village of Azogires a couple of miles into the hills from the  coastal town of Paleochora. Accommodation is in twin ensuite rooms.  And last but not least, Malcolm ŒMomo¹ Barradell, famed for his delicious menus, will be serving up food for us all week.

Practical information:

Dates:        22nd May (evening) - 29th May (morning)
Cost:        £335

This covers shared car hire for the week, accommodation, all breakfasts and 5 evening meals. We¹ve found that to be able to eat out at lunch time and for a couple of evenings is both fun and very reasonably priced.

How to get there: There are regular flights into Chania. Transfer from the airport can be arranged by the centre and is usually around £15 return provided the centre can co-ordinate arrivals, therefore don't book your flight before consulting them! (see contact below; if you don't have access to email phone us at Move the Base and we'll contact them for you).

It's easy to get accommodation near to Azogires in any of the lovely coastal towns, if you want to extend your stay outside of the workshop dates.
