The Centre

"Crete's mystery is extremely deep.
Whoever sets foot on this island senses a mysterious force
branching warmly and beneficiently through his veins,
senses his soul begin to grow."
Nikos Kazantzakis
The Azogires Centre is situated in one of the wildest, most undeveloped areas of Southwest Crete, 7 km inland from the old town of Paleochora on the south coast on the Lybian sea. The Centre is perched on a mountainside on the outskirts of the small village of Azogires, overlooking the valley winding down to the dazzling blue of the Mediterranean. The presence of elemental and Goddess energy, honoured here from time immemorial, is powerfully pervasive.
The Centre offers accommodation for groups of up to 16 people in twin and double bedded rooms, with newly tiled floors. An additional suite is available for group leaders. The rooms are simple but spacious, each with its own shower and toilet. Rooms have south-facing balconies overlooking the valley winding down to the sea. There is also a limited possibility of camping.

There is a large kitchen and a patio under grapevines, where we eat communally. Next to the patio a barn has been converted into a fine group room with a new wooden floor for up to 20 people for meditation and similar work, and up to 16 people for movement and dance groups.
The Centre is surrounded by garden and extensive ancient olive groves and orchards with orange, lemon, fig, mulberry and lime trees, oleanders, cypresses, jasmine and other fragrant plants.
The valley in which we are located is full of pictoresque features like the mountain stream with little pools, old ruined houses, caves, little white greek churches...
