THE QUEEN LATIFAH SHOW Original Taping August 22, 2000 Reviewed by Jennifer I was scared at first before even leaving the house because we really had very little idea of what was really going to happen. I kept in my mind that at least I would get to meet Jake, Martin and Ben and that thought kept me believing that no matter what happened that would make it a great experience. When my husband and I arrived we were also in the middle of the mother daughter biker makeovers and were very amused! Those people on talk shows are real! Who would have ever guessed? I saw Jake first and couldn't have been happier to meet such a great, handsome, talented guy! I really felt so much better being with someone who was going through the same thing with the same understanding of what this experience actually meant! Jake's presence meant the world to me. Phew! Then in came Martin and his family and the adorable Ben. Lois was there too and we soon discovered that the four of us, Jake, Martin, Lois and myself were all going to appear on the show. Lois was to have her head shaved by Sinead. Martin and I were to have an edit of our home videos shown and then walk out to meet her on stage!! And Jake was to give a presentation from the audience. The four of us were taken to a green room and locked away o we wouldn't run in to her by accident. I was so relieved to know that I was to be doing my bit with Martin. If he wasn't there I would have puked, passed out and blubbered like an idiot!! He was the best! The four of us had a great time together waiting, getting make-up and hair done and anticipating what was going to happen! Thank Jah Lois had some rescue remedy!! From the green room we got to watch our girl rehearse "Jealous" and rehearse her duet with the Queen. WAIT TILL YOU HEAR IT!! It was so awesome. I wish I could tell you more of what it was, but I think Queen Latifah said tit was a song of hers and it indeed have a Jamaican rhythm to it. I loved it. Martin's and my segment was so brief but I did have one goal that was accomplished. I got not one, but two awesome heart to heart hugs with our girl and boy was it wonderful!! I wasn't able to speak like a human but I was pleased as punch to be able to just gaze into her lovely face, tell her thank you, call her beautiful and get my hugs. It is true those ungrateful $#@%%!!&!!! At the record company should have realized that we were the ones that should have had the time with her. But the pigs shuttled her out in a rude fashion and we were robbed of the chance to actually get to talk and be with her. We did get to see little Jake. A high point for me was when she was walked out past us and we said good-bye she said bye back and her Jake said bye to us too. We said, "Bye Jake!" and he truly seemed pleased and surprised that we knew his name. And he does indeed have the face of an angel. The absolute best part, without question was the great people there with me. She has the BEST fans and I felt a kinship right away and it's the part of the day that will warm my heart for the rest of my life. We were in a TV world with a TV show to produce with TV smiles and TV business but the friends I met were real and the kindness and camaraderie were indeed the high point of the day. Jen
