SINEAD AT THE JAY LENO SHOW

She sang Jealous, as I had anticipated, and I thought the arrangement was
much better than on the album. Sinead looked stunning. It also seems like
she's gotten a little sun since her appearances in New York. AND her tongue
stud was quite visible throughout the performance. She was wearing a very
light mint green sleeveless evening gown that completely covered her bare
feet (I saw them after the song ended). Anyway, the really high notes
weren't quite as strong as the middle and lower ones, but she put a *lot* of
emotion into the performance. When she went low, she did some TLATC sort of
wailing... which was lovely. It made me like this song a lot more than I
used to. It sounded less Dave (Stewart) and more Sinead. The band was
completely different from the one she had in New York, and I didn't
recognize any of them. I noticed a drummist, strings, guitars, and a
flutophone (?--or whatever it's called) player.

There was a short interview after the song, but Jay didn't really talk about
anything besides the tongue piercing! Sinead was very friendly and answered
all his questions with a big smile on her face. She said she had actually
pierced it three times, and one of the times it was too far back to be
visible; so she had it re-done because she's "vain". Jay asked her if it
affected her singing, and she said that she's not just a singer, she's also
a woman who wants to be sexy. She said that the stud actually forces her to
be more careful about where she places her tongue and keeps her from being
lazy when she sings. What else? Oh yeah, she said you have to eat mashed up
food for three days after the piercing. She said a big beefy guy with tons
of tattoos did the piercing, and it was so painful that she wanted to grab
onto him, but she didn't dare because he looked so intimidating. Jay
mentioned that he met her son before the show, and he said at first he
thought, who's this, her boyfriend? He also said he remembered when Jake was
born. Sinead said that Jake's nearly as tall as her now.

Oh yeah, one more thing! Jay had been teasing Christy Brinkley about Bill
Clinton, trying to get her to admit that he had flirted with her (she denied
it adamantly). At the end of the show, he said that Christy was the only
woman Bill Clinton had never flirted with. Then he quickly turned to Sinead
and asked, have you met President Clinton? Sinead got the most naughty look
on her face I've ever seen and said, no, but I hope to, and I'll bring a big
packet of cigars. The show ended right after that, so I wasn't sure everyone
got to hear that last comment.
