O'CONNOR GIVES UP CUSTODY OF DAUGHTER IRISH singer Sinead O'Connor has given custody of her two-year-old daughter to the child's father, writer John Waters. London-based Sinead confirmed the move in faxed messages to newspapers. It followed a legal battle between her and Mr Waters, a columnist on the Irish Times newspaper, over the custody of their daughter Roisin. In her message the singer said she was now taking time out to recover from the custody contest, adding: "I am not a bad mother. That's not why I am giving up custody. "I've been a good mother to Roisin and John Waters accepts this. I will see our daughter at weekends and during school holidays." Sinead, who has an 11-year-old son named Jake from a previous marriage, is currently understood to be seeking a house in Dublin so that she can be closer to Roisin. There was no immediate comment from Mr Waters.
