SINEAD KEEPS MUM OVER CUSTODY BATTLE; SINGER'S NIGHT AT MCCARTNEY TRIBUTE WITH THE DAUGHTER SHE SNATCHED BACK By Amanda Stocks SINGER Sinead O'Connor arrived at a star-studded concert last night determined to show she is very much the loving mother as she battles for custody of her daughter. Holding three-year-old Roisin in her arms, she kept tight-lipped about the latest twist in the row. She recently snatched back the child from her former partner, Irish journalist John Waters, after apparently giving Roisin up on Mother's Day and then changing her mind. The couple barely knew each other when Roisin was born, but had 'agreed' to have a baby. A custody hearing is due next month to settle the matter. Sinead wants her daughter to live full time with her in London. 'I can't speak until after the custody hearing,' she explained as she entered London's Royal Albert Hall for a tribute concert to Linda McCartney. But she kept Roisin close to her as if she was scared to let her out of her sight. A host of stars, including Sir Paul McCartney, turned up for the sell-out charity concert. It was not known until the last minute whether the former Beatle would attend. Some thought he might find the gathering too much. But he rose to the occasion and sang All My Loving. It was an emotional moment, just days before the first anniversary of his wife's death from breast cancer. Sinead, along with George Michael, Chrissie Hynde, Tom Jones, Elvis Costello, Marianne Faithfull and other artists belted out hit after hit, with a Beatles theme running through the show. Each song had been chosen to reflect Linda's love of life, and Sir Paul had the support of his children, Stella, Mary and James, who watched as their father sang. Many of the performers had been close friends and supporters of the work Linda did for animal welfare.
