Charles Arnold Oates

Charles Arnold Oates was born in Sheffield, England in 1897, son of John Oates and Clara Keeling. Charles married Annie Shipston on January 23, 1919 in Sheffield England 3 months after his discharge from the Military. Charles left England to move to Canada in 1922. Charles is pictured here around the time of their marriage.             Charles had served during WW1 in France as a Private in the Machine Gun Corps Infantry and was discharged after being wounded. This picture would have been taken before his discharge in 1918.
