History of the Honda Crx

The meaning of Crx?

Crx means: Civic Renaissance model X.
Renaissance means a rebirth of something; therefore Crx
means it is a rebirth of the civic car. If you own a Crx or
know a little about them you will realize that most of the
parts are compatible with the 88-89 civic car. The Crx was
based off of a civic. This is why it is called a Civic Crx.

The history of the Crx!

1984-1987

The Crx originated in 1984. The engines available were:
1.3
1.5
In 1987 there were made different
changes to the car while waiting to the introduction of the
new redesigned Crx. So a 1.6 16 Valve engine was available.

1987-1992

At the end of 1987 the second model (ED9) was introduced with
a 1.6 16V engine. The new body style made the Crx rounder and
sleeker. Honda also added a see-thru back little space that was
not in the previous model. This feature made it easier to see out
the back-hatch. Many improvements were done to the car,
including all SI models had an electrical sunroof. In 1989 they
adjusted the car again with little modifications to interior and
exterior. In 1990 a new engine type became available, so now
there were to engine types:
DOHC 130 Hp (Pk)
VTEC 150 Hp (Pk)

1992-1997

The last model Crx the Del-sol was introduced in 1992.
It was a total different model then the other two previous models.
It is a real two-seated sports wagon with no back seat at all.
They build the del sol from 1992 till 1997 end called it the Del sol,
because this type has no sunroof but a targa-panel which in later
models was electric.
The Del sol has two types of VTEC engines:
Esi 120 Hp (Pk)
Vti 160 Hp (Pk)
