Rules of Protocol for the Imperial Court of Corumburg
Below is how to address members of the Imperial Family, what the order of precedence among members of the Imperial Family, and other court rules. Beginning is the order of precedence and then followed by a description of each role in the Imperial Family.
Order of Precedence
1) The Emperor
2) The Empress
3) The Crown Prince/ Heir Apparent
3) The Crown Princess/ wife of the Crown Prince
4) Any male issue of the Crown Prince
5) Any female issue of the Crown Prince
6) All other male Princes depending on when they were born and of whose issue they belong to.
7) All other female Princesses depending on when they were born and of whose issue they belong to.
Rule of Protocol
1) Always address the Emperor or Empress as "Your Imperial Majesty" when first meeting them. Afterward address them as "Sir/Madam" throughout the conversation.
2) Always address an Archduke or Prince of the blood as "Your Imperial and Royal Highness" when you first address them, and then afterward either as "Your Imperial Highness" or "Sir" throughout the rest of the conversation.
3) Always address an Archduchess or Princess of the blood as "Your Imperial and Royal Highness" when you first address them, and then afterward either as "Your Imperial Highness" or "Ma’am" throughout the rest of the conversation.
4) Women must curtsy to members of the Imperial Family.
5) Men must bow by bending at the waist, to members of the Imperial Family. A simple head bow is not appropriate.
6) Women must always wear hats and gloves when in the company of the Imperial Family. These include formal affairs and casual affairs. They do not however have to when simply out in public and they "spot" a member of the Imperial Family, or at a formal event where ball gown and evening dresses are required.
7) Never stare or look directly at a member of the Imperial Family.
8) Do not reach out to touch, including handshakes, a member of the Imperial Family unless they make the gesture first.
9) Never walk up to a member of the Imperial Family at public events, formal or casual, unless they make a move toward you first.
10) A curtsy is appropriate when first addressing or meeting a member of the Imperial Family, AND after the conversation has ended or the meeting has concluded.
