Osamu Tezuka

        During the 60's, the world knows the first anime TV series: TETSUWAN ATOMU (Iron-Arm Atom), rebaptized ASTROBOY outside Japan.  The successful comic strip in the 50's, was created by Osamu Tezuka (1928-1989), and animated in black and white from 1963 to 1966 through his own company: Mushi Productions.  Tezuka, was an excellent medicine doctor (like his father) but more interested in drawing, and a big fan of American animators like Walt Disney or Max Fleischer.  Astroboy becomes a worldwide hit, and another anime series, like Prince Planet or Gigantor.  Tezuka drew his character with big saucer-like eyes, style adopted like standard by all Japanese animators.  It is for this reason, and not because of a distorted perspective of the occidental eyes appearance.  193 chapters were produced buy only 104 were shown outside Japan.    The themes of all his work are
