Secret of Mura Ryo part 2
The negotiation was nothing more than each clan espousing its own virtues. The strange one behind the screen rarely responded to anything, but the gaijin was hard to understand, and seemed to speak nonsense. This eventually flustered the Lion Clan diplomat, Matsu iiabu, who stomped out after the Gaijin hissed at being called an outsider. The resentment of the gaijin was strange, but i attribute it to the nonsense of the negotiation so far. The Matsu promptly got up and left. Great strides where made by Kakita Kanai and Ide Xien Po, the later made more sense to me, since the Unicorn are so close to the Gaijin. The Crane have always been good diplomats, so it did not suprise me of her achievements. At the end of the day, everyone went to an Inn for a peaceful drink. I had struck up a nice conversation with Xien Po, when the Matsu walked in. "Only a Crab and a Unicorn would dirty themselves with Gaijin blood." At this point I lost my temper, the day had frustrated me enough. "Quiet you filthy kitten!!" "How dare you... Kenka uten noka!?!" said iiabu as his hand grasped the hilt of his katana in an Iajutsu stance. In a blatant breach of ettiquette, I through a bottle of Shochu at him, and hit him square in the face. "Stop this at once!" Before I knew it, the Inn was was flooded with Dragon Bushi lead by Kitsuki Yama. "It was entertaining Maatan sama, your outburst" giggled Xien Po. "Well..... It wasnt the most honourable thing to do." "Your a Crab, no one was expecting more. Besides, the Dragon are just tense, another Clan has come to attack their line as battered as it is." I nearly tripped over myself when he said that "I had no Idea, I need to document it!" "Good luck, our hosts are keeping us here whether we like it or not. But I intend to visit a friend I know here, and I may be able to help you." He took me to his chamber, high upon a cliff top, and produced to me a long cylindrical object propped up on an open screen facing the coming battle field. "Look through this end of this item." I placed my eye against this thing, and immedietly it seemed like I was almost right in the middle of the battle field. Immediately I jumped back to make sure of my surroundings. "It magnifies your vision... It should help you document in relative safety. "Sooo desu ka" I replied with an extatic grin. As Ide Xien Po backed out of the room, I heard him say "Make yourself at home, Maatan sama, you may rest here for the night." Soon after he left, I saw the Dragon line form, and before them an army of Ronin... Ronin I swear to you, never before have I seen so many in one area......
Dragon Honour: 10 Dragon has Hand of Fate Ronin Honour: 7 Ranged attacks: All archers fire but are out of range. As the Ronin army advanced, I peered deeply into the eyepiece of the Unicorn's Nemuranai, I clearly began to make out the heraldry of the Ronin armies banners. Toturi the Black! They served Toturi the Black!!! Each army let loose a volley of arrows, each falling short of its targets.

Ranged attacks: Veteran Ronin archers fire at the Dragonflame. 3 hits for 24 damage. 2 Dragons perish. Veteran Ronin archers fire against the mountaineers scoring 2 hits for 14 damage. 1 Mountaineer dies. Dragonflame fire at the Veteran Ronin Archers, missing completely. The Dragon army stood virtually motionless as the Ronin army pumped more and more arrows into it. Mirumoto Sukune, mempo donned, stood their stoically. The mountaineers, began to head towards the hills.

Ranged Attacks: Dragonflame archers fire at Veteran Ronin archers, 1 hits for 5 damage. No casualties Veteran Ronin archers fire at Tattooed madmen failing to score a hit. Dragon Morito Tokei casts fury of Osano Wo at the Veteran Ronin Archers. The tactical cards resist magic and beyond your mastery is played.
Mirumoto Sukune fires at the Elite Heavy Infantry hitting once for 10 damage. 1 wound against Heavy Infantry. The Dragon cavalry began to slowly trot foward. The center ranks of its army marched slowly. If I didnt know any better, I would say that a breakdown of command was occuring, but I would not expect that in any of the great clans. Sukune calmly raised his fan, and signaled his army to hold their ground as his unit casually turned around and began to go back...
Ronin HOF 4
Ronin Morito Tokei casts Windbourne speed on left flank Elite Heavy Infantry. Ranged Attacks: Dragonflames fire at Veteran Ronin Archers for 1 hit. 10 damage. 1 Ronin dies. Veteran Ronin Archers fire at mountaineers hitting 4 times for 30 damage. 3 more Dragons die. Veteran Ronin Archers fire at Dragonflame hitting 2 times for 8 damage. No casualties. The mountaineers sustained another barrage of arrows from the Ronin, the right flank was in imminant danger of collapsing, and still Sukune did nothing.

windbourne speed on both Elite Heavy Infantry Primary Movement: Dragonflame archers fail to go into archers row. Takuan's Elite Heavy Infantry has the tactical card "Know the terrain" Played on it Ranged attacks: Mountaineers fire at Veteran Ronin Archers not hitting a single one Dragonflame archers fire at Veteran Ronin archers hitting 2 times for 12 pts of damage. 1 Ronin dies. Veteran Ronin archers fire at mountaineers hitting 6 times for 32 damage. 3 mountaineers cease to exist. The tactical card "Grim Determination" is played on one unit of Veteran Ronin Archers, and on the Dragonflame. The Mountaineers however break. Sukune's Dragonstorm turned around once again, encouraging the badly shaken Dragonflame archers who looked like they where about to flee. The mountaineers morale collapsed in the face of a rapidly approaching mass of Ronin lead by Takuan, and a barrage of arrows fired by the Ronin Archers. The center still continued to march on the woodline at an almost casual pace...

Veteran Ronin archers fire at tattooed madmen hitting 4 times for 30 points of damage, dispatching 3 tattooed Madmen. Sukune fires at the Ronin Heavy Infantry, failing to score a hit. Sukune calmly pulled his bowstring back, and let loose another arrow as his cavalry patiently trotted foward. More arrows thinned the Dragon's ranks, while the Dragons' counter battery failed to do anything...
Dragon HOF 7
Spc. Orders: Both Ronin Tokeis cast windbourne speed on both units of Elite Heavy Infantry. Tattooed madmen activate both Crab and Centipede tattooes. Primary Movement: Dragonflame archers fall back. The Veteran Ronin Archers reactionary fire. 2 hits 11 damage, 1 Dragonflame dies. Know the terrain played on the Tattooed madmen, as the run into the woodline. Ranged attacks: Veteran Ronin Archers fire on the Dragonscales, hitting 3 times for 20 damage. 2 Dragonscales meet their doom. Veteran Ronin fire at the Dragon medium Infantry hitting 2 times for 26 damage. 2 more dragons die. Dragonflame archers fire at the Elite Ronin Guard failing to hit. A mystical fury enveloped the Madmen as they defied Sukune's orders and lept forth into the woodline so quickly, that they seemed to blur. More arrows rained down upon the Dragon, taking hideous tolls upon them... Why werent they attacking? Why where they just standing there taking punishment?... Why was Sukune being so lethargic in his attack?....

Ranged Attack: Dragonflame fire on the Elite Ronin Guard, missing completely. Veteran Ronin Archers fire at the Dragonscales hitting 7 time for 43 damage. 4 Dragonscales perish. Veteran Ronin Archers fire at the Dragon Medium elite hitting 2 times for 7 damage. No casualties.
Mirumoto Sukune fires at the Elite Heavy Infantry hitting once, and causing one wound. HtH Combat: Elite Ronin Guard hit the Tattooed madmen 4 times for 55 damage. 5 Madmen are removed from the front rank. Togashi Rinjin strikes and misses. The Tattooed madmen play the tactical card,
Grim determination. The Tattooed men howled and raced foward out of the wooded area. The Ronin yelled and pushed their Yari outward, Impaling the first rank of madmen, blunting their advance. The rain of arrows intensify, killing many more Dragon, as Sukune's Dragonstorm hug a small hill, obscuring them from my view...

Dragon Morito Tokei casts biting steel on the Dragon Medium Elite. Primary Movement: Takuan's Heavy Infantry enagage the Mountaineers. In response, the Mountaineers withdrawl and play the tactical card "parade ground practice" Takuan's Heavy Infantry become unformed. Dragon Medium elites play the charge card, as well as know the terrain against the Ronin medium Elites. Ronin Medium Elites withdrawl and become unformed. Seppun Kiaku's Heavy Infantry charges the Dragonstorm with the tactical card charge. The Dragonstorm play defensive position. Ranged attacks: Dragonflame archers fire against the Veteran Ronin archers, failing to hit. Veteran Ronin Archers fire back against the Dragonflame hitting 5 times for 41 damage. Destroying the remnants of the Dragonflame. Veteran Ronin Archers hit 5 times against the Dragonscales for 29 damage. 2 die. HtH phase: Dragonstorm hit against the Elite Heavy Infantry 4 times for 52 wounds. 2 Heavy Infantry die Tattooed Madmen are slaughtered to the man, doing no damage to the Elite Ronin guard. Elite Heavy Infantry hit 2 times for 19 damage, killing one Dragonstorm. The Dragon right flank was in full rout, while the center was mercilessly butchered by the Ronin. Soon I heard a cry from below.... "Sukune! Sukune is poisoned!" and soon "Murder!!! Murder!!!" I quickly bolted away from the nemuranai, and slid open the screen. At that same moment, several Dragon Bushi surrounded me with their blades drawn. I grasped the hilt of my Katana, and again Kitsuki Yama appeared. "Is this the way the Dragon treat their guests!?!" Yama peered at me with stone eyes, similar almost to what I have seen in the Hiruma when they go to war, "Where have you been for the past few hours Maatan san." "I was up here, documenting this battle for our archives. Your armies did not fare well Yama san." "Ide Xien Po is dead, and so is Matsu iiabu. Kakita Kanai is missing, her chamber is filled with blood, and we just found our armies general poisoned . Asako Go said he saw you leaving her chamber... Covered in blood." "Thats a lie! I have been here the whole time, and I just saw Sukune sama leading the Dragonstorm in battle!" "Soo desu ne" replied the Dragon Inquisitor. "Come with me." As he lead me to a different chamber I asked him "Who was leading your armies if Sukune was poisoned, and how will you defend yourselves against the bandit army?" "Do not worry about us... We have made arrangements to keep this village safe." At this time I saw something I had never seen before... An ambassador.... From the Matis. Truly it was a day of suprises.
Endgame Toturi's Army is Victorious AAR 12FEB00 1330 - 1615 Massacre at Mura Ryo OK.... It has been nearly a year since my last update, but keep in mind, all updates before this, I was gainfully unemployed. Since then all the Clanbooks have been released so no one need use the vanilla lists anymore. The Dragon was mercilessly butchered due to some terrible tactical decisions, and holding his units back during the Ronin player's ranged attacks as well as bad luck. It should also be noted also that the Dragon was a rookie and the Ronin player was a veteran, the most seasoned we have in our group. This game was so one sided that i stopped keeping track of Victory points, the winner was obvious. The game ended when the Dragon player became so frustrated at his indecision and bad luck, that he fell over while leaning back in his chair. At this point he nearly went beserk, and we all knew, somehow, that the game had ended.

further... "Who are they, what are they like?" Gen thought hard for a
moment... " I really do not know Maatan sama, they hide behind a screen during
negotiations. They do have a hard time speaking our language. Gaijin I
suppose." "Gaijin!?! Has the clan war gotten that bad that the great clans
are vying for the assistance of barbarians?" "So it seems Maatan sama.
