History

It's not much, but I've pieced together a spotted history of my Land Cruiser based on my discussions with the previous owner and various documents that were still in the glove compartment.

The vehicle was originally imported for sale in California.  It included the California emissions exhaust manifold and other unique emissions devices.

A California DMV receipt from May 7, 1980 indicates that it was still in California at this time.  The registration is to a Mr. Roberts.

At some point, my cruiser made it to Cleveland, OH.  I have a copy of a salesperson's "cheat sheet", where the owner was considering trading it in at Toyota of Cleveland.  At this point, the vehicle had 21,143 miles.  It is unknown whether the vehicle was traded.

Years later the Land Cruiser made it to Signal Mountain, TN, which is only about 2 hours from my house.  The cruiser served as a fun vehicle for a couple of brothers in high school.  As they went to college, they got a more highway friendly vehicle and the cruiser was sold to the boy's uncle in Montezuma, GA.  The uncle owned a huge farm with pecan trees, chicken houses, a deer hunting camp, and lots of Georgia red clay mud.

During its time in Georgia, the cruiser received a fresher 2F engine with a reported 60,000 miles.  If I remember correctly, the engine was purchased out of New York.  Based on the serial number, I believe the motor to be a 1979 model.

On May 8, 2000, I was searching the internet as I had done for several months, looking for just the right cruiser.  A classified add placed in the Atlanta Journal Constitution caught my eye.  I called up the owner and scheduled a trip to look at the vehicle the next day.  After a 7 hour drive, my friend and I arrived at the farm.  A few hours (and $2800) later, I was driving back in my Land Cruiser.
