General Aircraft Hotspur
The Hotspur was designed as a troop-carrying glider. The eight- seat Hotspur was inspired by the successful use of the DFS 230 by the Germans in May 1940 (famous attacks on the Belgian fortress Eben-Emael, on Crete and to liberate Mussolini). The gliding performance of the Hotspur was not entirely satisfactory, and toghether with the development of larger gliders this prevented the type from entering combat service. With a shortened wingspan, the Hotspur became the standard glider trainer.
