USAF Retired

Oct 19,1950 - Aug 22,2005

Gary L. Bixby, 54, passed away on Monday (Aug. 22, 2005) at the Buffalo Veterans Administration Hospital following a lengthy illness.

Gary was born on Oct. 19, 1950, in Wellsville, NY to Clifford and Elizabeth (Rice) Bixby, who survive. Gary was a 1968 graduate of Andover Central School. After graduation he served as Weapons Specialist in the United States Air Force from 1968 to 1971, until a motorcycle accident while on duty ended his military career, and left him permanently disabled. On Oct. 8, 1984, he married Rosanne Smith who also survives.

In addition to his parents and wife, Gary is survived by two sons, Dennis Bixby and Thomas Bixby; two daughters, Christina Bixby and Heidi Bixby; one brother, William; three grandchildren, Adam Bixby, Samantha Bixby and Sarah Bixby.

Gary was an outdoor enthusiast who never let his physical disability prevent him from enjoying the things he loved. He also cherished the annual vacation spent with his family.

One of his favorite pastimes was flying with his Internet friends The Outlaws, which he enjoyed for many years, until his illness..

I started flying in the zone in 1998 when I met Dusty, from there

it was all downhill, lol. Joking, we had a lot of fun and met some

great people. We enjoy meeting more good friends on the zone

so come on and play, rookie or ace, it doesn't matter.
