Bird Banding at Caddo Lake

Saturday, March 15, 2003.  Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding efforts.  Other participants included Pat and Patty Calelly of Spring, Texas; Dan and Laura Zimmerman of Houston; Colleen Cookson of Shreveport; Margot Lingold of Marshall; Ron Munden of Marshall; Diane Jones of Jonesville; Dorothy Metzler of Longview; and Tom Walker of Jefferson. 

Location:  The banding activities took place just west of Caddo Lake in Marion County on Boots Walker Road (near Jefferson, Texas).

Weather Conditions:  Clear to partly cloudy.  The morning low was in the mid 50's and the afternoon high was in the mid 70's. 

Time:  The nets were up by 9:30 a.m. and were down by 5:30 p.m.

Number of Nets:  Twelve (12)

Special Note:  Eight White-throated Sparrows were released unbanded because Jim ran out of bands in their size.

Saturday, March 29, 2003.  Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding efforts.  Other participants included Colleen Cookson of Shreveport, Louisiana; Charles and Scott Davis of Southlake, Texas; True Mann of Longview; Ron Munden of Marshall; Diane Jones of Jonesville; Dorothy Metzler of Longview; Tom Walker of Jefferson; and Marion County game warden, Mike Walker.  We also had a Boy Scout troop from Jefferson visiting us along with parents and other family members:  Duke, Laurel, Molly, Jess, and Charles DeWare; Tammy and David McLenden; Heith and Sue Best; Miles and Chuck Kendrick; Rusty and Keith Knight; R.J. and Ronald Mauldin; Chris and Cody Tyler.

Location:  The banding activities took place just west of Caddo Lake in Marion County on Boots Walker Road (near Jefferson, Texas).
