Tuesday, May 8, 2001. Dr. Jim Ingold, ornithologist at LSU-Shreveport, led the bird-banding efforts. Other participants included Dorothy Metzler of Longview, Carolyn and Dickie Luce of Mooringsport, and Tom Walker of Jefferson.
Location: The activities took place just west of Caddo Lake in Marion County on Boots Walker Rd (near Jefferson, Texas).
Weather conditions: Cloudy but warm.
Time: Started at 8:15 a.m. and ended at 2:00 p.m. CDT.
Number of Nets: 10
Special Notes: A total of 21 birds were caught (13 new birds; 6 retraps; 2 unbanded). This is the latest we have ever banded at this location in the spring. As a result, we caught late migrants and summer species we had not caught before.
Virtually all the winter birds were gone.
We do not band hummingbirds.
Next banding date: Fall 2001.
