Backstreet's Back With Millennium

On Tuesday morning, May 18th, Backstreet Boys, brand new Millennium CD will hit record stores all across America! And while their first US album featured songs from their award-winning European CDs, Millennium has all-new tunes, some of which were even written and published by the guys themselves!

    The New CD!

Backstreet Boys chose Millennium as the name of their new album because the whole idea of "The Year 2000" is such a hot topic these days! Of course, they had some concerns about using such a popular word as a title! Before agreeing on Millennium, there was talk of naming the CD Larger Than Life, after a beautiful song Brian helped write. According to Brian,  "....The song is all about the fans. It talks about how they affect our life and our reality...when you're on stage....you see all these people singing your songs. It makes you feel, larger than life."  He also helped write "The One" and "The Perfect Fan" all published in part by his own company, B-ROK Publishing!  "The One is a dance song," described Brian, "and 'The Perfect Fan' is a song about my mom...everyone can relate to someone who pushes you in the right direction and is there to watch over you, and help you take those steps towards the good life."

The first single, "I Want It That Way," is  "a mid-tempo version of 'Quit Playin' Games (With My Heart)' and 'As Long As You Love Me," described Brian.  Almost all the guys wrote songs for Millennium, but unfortunately some were cut because their record company didn't want to make this a double-play CD. "Back To Your Heart" is a song written by Kevin and Gary Baker, who wrote the famous All-4-One song, "I Swear."

Months before Millennium was released, fake song lists---including a solo by Nick!---were posted all over the unofficial fan web sites. Nick does actually have a solo, "I Need You Tonight," and it's written by Andrew Fromm. Andrew also wrote the song, "Heaven In Your Eyes," which Nick performed live during last year's tour.
