5 Days 4 Nights Ulu Lemanak

Day 1: Pick up from your hotel in the morning driven through country road for 5 hours passing by pepper, rubber and cocoa plantations amidst green mountainous scenery. Stops along the way - first at Serian, a small town to buy some presents (Guide will advise) for the natives; secondly for lunch; lastly at a pepper plantation. Arrive at Lemanak boat jetty in mid afternoon where a motorized longboat await to take you upriver amidst overhanging foliage providing shed for the boat journey which takes about an hour to Kesit Longhouse. There you will see among other things head trophies hanging from the rafters, antique Chinese jars and some 25 families living together under one roof in a 200-meter long longhouse. In the evening, you will feast with the longhouse’s chief and folks with traditional dinner and cultural dances. Overnight in the guesthouse with basic facilities. (LUNCH/DINNER)

Day 2: Breakfast in the longhouse. After breakfast, witness blowpipe demonstration. Embark into the longboat to go further upriver negotiating more rapids and tricky bends passing by thick tropical foliage. Lunch enroute - cooked in bamboo pots over bon fire along the bank of the crystal clear water of Skandis, Lemanak's tributary. After lunch, continue the journey on foot (2-3 hours) to Kachong longhouse, the last along the tributary of Lemanak. Take a cool dip in the crystal clear water before ascending the longhouse. Dinner and overnight in the longhouse. (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)

Day 3: Breakfast in the longhouse. Pack and proceed for the jungle trek through the tropical rain forest making a few stops at intervals to collect jungle produce, fishing and late lunch in native style. Afternoon, return to Kachong longhouse or spend the night camping in jungle with makeshift accommodation (rough it out). Dinner and retire for the night. (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)

Day 4: Early breakfast in the longhouse or jungle. After breakfast, leave Kachong longhouse or the jungle camp by longboat/trek to descend downstream to reach Lemanak River. Picnic lunch enroute by the river bank. Arrive Kesit longhouse by late afternoon. Evening, after dinner, relax and overnight at the guest house. (BREAKFAST/LUNCH/DINNER)

Day 5: Breakfast in the guesthouse. After breakfast, pack and return Kuching via the same way. Lunch enroute. Arrive Kuching in the afternoon. (BREAKFAST/LUNCH)
