Welcome Brothers and Sisters!

Our goal here is to provide the members with local information, (As current as we can get it) to better inform them about matters pertaining to their job and union.  We will continue to give it our best shot, but remember you are the union and without your participation, there really is no Union!  (If you can think of anything that you would like to see in this web site, please E-mail us with your suggestions).

Quick Notes!!!

WHY BLET?

With the current amount of testing, discipline, and lack of respect management shows the employees, there is really only one way to handle this. Do your job according to the Rules! Above all else, BE SAFE OUT THERE!

If you are hurried out of the the yard office to get on your train and you didn't have time to check on the current General Notices, Superintendent Bulletins, etc. Call the Safety Hotline and report it, this is a safety violation!!! Remember the Safety Hotline will get results when you use it.

ANYONE USING THIS SITE? IF SO E-MAIL US AND LET US KNOW!

THIS WEEK'S COMMENTARY!

If you like this idea, share any information you have from your current trips that you think others may benefit from by E-mailing me at: plm794@comcast.net

We will keep this as current as the information comes in and this will only continue if you use it. So let us know!

MONTELLO COWBOY CAFE!

Called on a train going from Elko to Ogden and didn't have enough time to get something to eat before you went on duty? If you will be going through Montello at a decent hour you can call the Cowboy Cafe and they will cook you up a really great tasting Hamburger. Their phone number is 775-776-2466 and my AT & T cell service works great around the COBRE area which will give them about 20 minutes to prepare your delicious meal. (Get it to go of course!)

QUICK REMINDERS:

Locomotive Inspections!

"It cost the Union Pacific Railroad $500.00 for each record they can't produce.  In 1998 they paid the FRA approximately  $250,000.00 for this issue alone.  The 1999 settlement will be even greater, this is money they feel could surely be used somewhere else."

Given the amount of money involved; engineers should take extra precautions to protect themselves from DISCIPLINE as it pertains to these work reports.  So make sure you fill out a Locomotive Inspection report each trip to cover your butt!!!  (CYA)

    C.O.R.E. Classes!!!

You should be aware (I'm sure most of you are already) that if you get into trouble, (Fail a test or screw up for real)    You have a once every 8 year option to opt for a C.O.R.E. (Continuing Operating Rules Education) class in lieu of a level 3 or level 4 discipline event.  The company has to give you this option once in the specified time whether they want to or not, but they can agree to giving you the option (As a Mutual Consent) as many times as you need it.  (And they have been granting Mutual Consents)

Please remember if you get into trouble, don't sign for any discipline before you talk to a Union representative!  Some of the company managers have convinced a few to sign for the discipline before the they talked to Union Officer. (You have the right to talk to your Local Chairman before you sign for discipline!!!)
