Bull gets ready to charge meMost people have heard about the running of the bulls held annually in Pamplona, Spain (in early July). However, many towns celebrate the arrival of spring by holding festivals. Several towns feature a miniaturized version of Pamplona's running of the bulls.

The running of the bulls pictures on this page were taken in Arcos de la Frontera. Arcos is an attractive small town located near Jerez de la Frontera in southern Spain. People line the streets well before the bulls are released. A shotgun blast sounds the release of the bull (in Arcos only one bull is released at a time). The side streets are blocked by rails and filled with spectators, so the bulls are forced to go up the cobble-stone street that leads to the Parador Nacional Casa del Corregidor and an interesting church.
