We are happy to announce that the keynote speaker for 2008 will be Denise Lavigne, musician and activist!
We will open on Friday evening with a dinner buffet, followed by Act One of the original short play Murder of a Talk Show Host. Following the first act, everyone will have twenty four hours to submit their guess regarding who committed the heinous (or not so heinous) murder. During Saturday morning and afternoon, other clues will materialize to aid them in their quest.
There will be five workshops on Saturday morning and afternoon. These include the following:
On Sunday morning, we will conclude with a closing brunch and Act Two of our murder mystery. We will recognize those who correctly identified whodunit, as well as some of the more creative incorrect guesses.
Our service project for this year will be a raffle. At the 2006 Big As TEXAS, quilt squares were created by attendees that depicted the influence the size acceptance movement has had on them as individuals. Later, they were quilted together. Over the weekend, raffle tickets for the quilt will be sold, with all the proceeds going toward the purchase of size-positive books for area elementary schools. The raffle ticket will be drawn on Sunday morning.
Throughout the weekend, door prizes and other surprises will be forthcoming.
