History:: Johnstown is the only one of the 5 original ECHL teams to still be playing in its original city. Despite this proud heritage, the Chiefs' fortunes have steadily declined over the years as more teams in larger cities enter the league. Johnstown now struggles to attract top talent to the smallest city in the ECHL. Johnstown is a hockey town (the movie "Slapshot" was filmed here and featured many players from a previous minor league team located here as well as the Chiefs' home arena.) but has never been a large metropolis and has a fading industrial base. Therefore, the Chiefs have trouble attracting many fans which only add to their struggles.
