Uniquely Zeta

Sigma Founders

The Sigma chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha was installed on the campus of Baker University in 1912, making it the 19th link in our chain of chapters.

Zeta Tau Alpha is very proud of its unique qualities. Here are some of the reasons we think Zeta Tau Alpha is the best!

The Zeta Tau Alpha Fraternity was founded on October 15, 1898 at long Longwood College in Farmville Virginia.

ZTA is currently the 3rd largest National Panhellenic Conference organization, having at last count, 227 collegiate chapters and over 260 alumnae chapters.

ZTA was the first women's fraternity to establish a National Housing Corporation, which over the years has helped to house some of Zeta's 130,000+ members!

Since 1992, ZTA's national philanthropy has been the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. We actively support and aid the foundation through the campaign and participating in numerous Race for the Cure® events nationwide.

The five-pointed crown is a symbol shared between the ZTA Fraternity and Hallmark. The connection occurred when the wife of former Hallmark CEO, being a Zeta, suggested the crown be used as a company symbol. Ever since the crown has appeared on all Hallmark greeting cards and gifts.

Some famous Zetas...Susan Ford Bales (Daughter of Gerald Ford & Breast Cancer Activist), Phyllis George Brown (Miss America,1971 and former first lady of Kentucky), Betty Buckley (Actress: Tony Award for "Cats", Abby in "Eight is Enough"), Faith Daniels (CBS News Anchor, CBS Morning News, Today Show), Dr. Sara Crews Finley (co-founder of the Lab of Medical Genetics), Rubye Graham (Former Executive Director of "Seventeen Magazine"), Rebecca Holden (Actress: co-starred in "Knightrider"), Pam McCoskie (Author of Butter Busters), Linda Johnson Robb (Daughter of Lyndon B. Johnson, Former 1st lady of Virginia), Elizabeth Ward (Miss America, 1982).

The "LinkUp" system allows Zetas to continue their fraternity involvement long after their collegiate years, thus living up to the idea that "Zeta is Forever." The "LinkUp system allows ZTAs to locate one of the 260 alumnae organizations wherever they may be, providing them with friendships and possibly employment opportunities in new surroundings.

Themis, our national magazine and also the name of our patron goddess, is received by every initiated member on a quarterly basis.

"Seek the Noblest" is the open motto of Zeta Tau Alpha and one in which we strive daily to fulfill.
