A woman named Paloma Galindo is looking for speaking engagements to talk about nuclear disarmament. we'll get more information and keep you posted.

3. Fireside chats
Thanks to Allison Davis for taking this on! Contact her at allisonldavis@hotmail.com for more information. Fireside chats were started last year to get students and profs together in an informal setting to learn more about what profs are working on outside the classroom. It's a great way to hear about research and find out how you're interests fit in too! This year, we're thinking of expanding outside the IPCR program a little bit to others with related interests. Look for more info to come!

4. Website  http://members.tripod.com/auspcr
Another great first year is going to be our web developer for AUSPCR! Victoria Cirks is the one to contact with suggestions, comments, or questions about our website. Email her at vcirks@holc.house.gov.

5. Internships
By now many of you have heard that Mary Warneka has left her position as the Project Pen coordinator and that Saji Prelis is working on an expanded internship program. if you're interested in helping him with some basics to get this started -- about 1-2 hours a week, email him at scubido@ureach.com. He's also come to classes to hand out questionnaires to find out what students expect and what they'd like to see come out of an internship program, so please fill them out and return them to him!

6. Fun in trees!!
Val did some great investigating and found us a Ropes Course to do on October 28, 10am - 4pm. Normally the cost of these things is $75/person, but she talked them down to $35/person. And it gets even better: AUSPCR will subsidize this event!! The cost to you is only $5 for food. Quite a deal! For those who have never done a Ropes Course before, this is a great activity. It's meant to build teamwork and relationships for groups who participate. We thought it would be a great way for the IPCR students and faculty to work together and build even stronger relationships within the program. We passed around some signup sheets in classes, but if we didn't visit you, email Val Schrock at valeriejs@netzero.net or Bethany at bethanymcandrew@hotmail.com to sign up for more information. Keep your eyes open for more info on the listserv too!

7. NEXT MEETING: Monday October 16th, 6pm, SIS room 14
