Shadow of a Predator

In the cage of man-made discontent
resides a beast whose eyes glow firey
face to face he should be met
not trapped for the sake of cowardly
In his cage he rests and dreams
The shadow of a predator no longer seen

Behind iron bars his soul soars
Remembering the beat of a life
prowling constant on the moors
the sun coming up, reflecting pure
Casting his shadow all keen
The shadow of a predator no longer seen

Dreams have an ending, and he awakes
to a cold steel door and dead meat
no feel for the life that he takes
no running and prowling for what he seeks
he lays down again, to dream
The shadow of a predator no longer seen

During the day he no longer sleeps
standing proud under selfish gazing
for man's desire to keep
man's desire to own is amazing
His life, his beauty, his dreams
The shadow of a predator no longer seen
