Delirium

The apathy overwhelming, the feelings buried
Deep in the tunnel, the nameless funnel
Of the soul of the damned, of the loveless, and cruel
As well as the kind, striking evenly and completley
Knocking and wounding the bravest of men

None can withstand the siren call
Of pain, of misery, of the will to end it all
Some more than others, immune can they be
But in the end it strikes all, even I and me

Burning, cutting, bruising and devilish pains
Wake up the heart turned to coal within
Watching the wound and feeling a sting of realization
Of the life, of the world surronding your damnation

And then you awake for a moment of respite
From the nightmare unending in the immortal night
For a moment you grasp the meaning of life
As the pain surronds you, and the pain overwhelms
The tears choked within, the soul withheld
The devil invaded, the soul yet awakened
And then a moment later you find you are mistaken

For the hurt provided but a momentary relief
A second of understanding, a minute of peace
From the burning and suffering controlled deep inside
Manifesting itself in the burn on your arm or the bruise on your thigh
Yet they are there still, reminding you always
Of the time you escaped from the gateways and hallways
Of your own chaotic self.
