I Alone

I, alone, love you
What do you think the others are for
mocking and stomping around
sneaking in the back door
to your heart
while i bombard them with all of my strengths
and am left with a carcass for my soul
and a heart which love makes
weak and tainted

I, alone, want you
with your simple uncoth ways
making the others stumble and run
and making me want you, though it may not pay
I want to tie you up as my very own
Make you mine in heart and soul
Make you cry in pain and tears
As I have all these many years
through the agony

I, alone, hate you
below, beneath, less than me in all
unequal unloving hard as stone
making me love making me call
out your name in my dreams and my nightmares
both twins, as my love and hate
for you, for love, for what you have done
and what I have allowed to happen
to my hapless self

I, alone
bearing the burdens of hate and torture
inflicted and twisting the mind within
til I scream out a barbaric howl
a killing howl, a wounded whine, a sacred cry all in one
Because I alone
I alone know what its like
to love and hate such a beast as you
and to be such a beast, as myself, too.
