There are a lot of things to learn about New Moon. A very good command for learning things about New Moon (along with interesting quotes) is the fortune command. Here is a list of some general info about New Moon that you might not know, some taken from fortune, some gained from experience. Nothing on here is too big of a secret, but some of it is just nice to know.

* You can purchase a pet on heliopolis island. They can defend you and help you in fighting, especially if your weak. If they die, you cant get another. The strongest type of pet is the firelizard, I believe.
* Same sex marriages are allowed
* If you are short, get a good helmet as most monsters will be taller than you. If youre tall, get good greaves as most monsters will be shorter. This explains why on some people helmets damage very quickly while on others they almost never get touched.
* The city walls of Heliopolis have many secret passages through them.
* Your ability to defend yourself in combat depends in part on your skill in the weapon being used against you.
* The Heliopolis beach is a nice place to get a suntan when the weather is up to it.
* There are lots of secret places money is hidden in New Moon. So even if an area doens't look like it will yield a quest, be sure to search and have a peek around. You might discover money - or hidden treasure!
* In shops, you can 'sell swords from sack'.
* There are lots of forgeable items in New Moon. Some can only be learned from certain smiths, and a high level of gen.cra.smi is normally required. Be sure to talk to all the different smiths, who knows they might teach you something handy!
* There are banks located in Heliopolis, Leviatha, Chang Wong, Kanex, and Tsan.
* There are many advanced tutors in New Moon. Some are guild specific, but others can teach a certain skill to 300 or even 600 - much higher than your own guild! Ask everyone your suspicious about to "teach me".
* Almost every guild has 2 or more guild locations. Some of them are hidden, but it can be quite handy to know the location of guilds all over the world to cut down traveling times.
* Many armours that are very protective and heavy come with a dexterity penalty. Examples are sacred armour (-2) and heavy spiked gauntlets (-1). If you an armour seems too good to be true, make sure to check your stats with "score stats" to see how it has effected you.
* If you are slightly burdened, your dex goes -1. Burdened makes it -2, heavily burdened -3. If you are totally overburdened you have a wretched dex penalty of -4!
* If you are unsure how the npcs of New Moon feel about you, check out the "factions" command.
* Did you know that you gain experience points in many locations simply by sitting there observing what is going on?
* Use the 'influences' (inf) command to see a quick summary of all the things affecting your character that you know about.
* Your stats can go down at various times. This isn't permemenant, and a restore will normally clear it up. Death, poison, overburdening etc. can all cause lowered stats.
*Use your "factions" command to check out how heliopolis guilds and npcs feel about you.
If something is too heavy for you to pick up, you may still be able to 'drag' it along the ground.
