The Antenna Conspiracy Chronicle

(Blum,Texas June, 2001) Ever since construction began on a large "communications" tower in this obscure and remote Texas town of 400, the town's residents have experienced a series of strange and unexplained events.

In the early spring of 1993 a large crew of "contractors" descended unannounced on this quiet Texas village. The City of Blum consists of a Post Office, 1 gas station, a beauty salon, several other small local businesses, and a population of 399. Situated in a river valley 40 miles from Waco and 50 miles from Dallas/Fort Worth, it is hardly the place for a massive construction project.

However, in the space of 1 short month "contractors" erected a huge 1000-foot-tall tower just 1000 feet from the town cemetery. Studded with an array of antennas of all shapes and sizes, the tower dominates the landscape, and is visible for miles. Why would any legitimate enterprise locate a tower in a valley?!

The town's businesses welcomed the influx of visitors, who spent their money freely. But when questioned about the purpose of the structure,the only reply was, "It's a communication tower". When asked about the tower's owners, they would only say "Don't know. We're just the contractors".
It was right after the "contractors" departure that the chronicle of terror began. Following a night of bizarre events which began at my home (just 1/4 mile from the tower) I began my own investigation into the real purpose of this antenna-studded megalith. Over a 2-year period my investigation has revealed a series of events too strange for the average city-dweller to comprehend or explain. What follows is only a partial accounting of many unexplained events. My investigation in ongoing.


Animal Mutilations
Farm Road 933 runs within 1/4 mile of the tower. This stretch of highway is often littered with the carcasses of small animals, some so mutilated and disfigured as to be unrecognizable or unidentifiable as to species. Many times a driver must swerve wildly to avoid the mangled corpse of some unfortunate racoon or armadillo lying dismembered in the road. Birds flying in this area have been observed "committing suicide" by deliberately flying into the windshields and front grills of unsuspecting motorists.These phenomena have yet to be fully explained.

Unexplained Pregnancies
Twila Peters (not her real name) lives with her father, 3 teenage brothers, and her 4 small children in a modest 2 bedroom mobile home 956 feet from the tower. Though only 13 at the time the tower was built, Twila learned that she was pregnant just 1 week after the tower's completion. Since that baby's birth she has become pregnant 3 more times, and each of her 4 children exhibits some form of mental or physical disability. Twila states, "I can't understand it. I don't know who their father is". Although no one in the household has a steady job, everyone drives a new car, and Twila receives almost $4000 per month from "The Government". At the time of this writing Twila is pregnant yet again.

Amanda Birdwell (not her real name) lives with her husband on the small gravel road leading to the construction site.While the tower was under construction, her small frame house became the temporary home to 4 "construction workers" who preferred not to make the long drive to the nearest motel each day. The extra money from the boarders was sorely needed since her husband was still out of work as the result of an accident.Two months after the tower was completed Amanda learned that she was pregnant,despite the fact that her husband had lost his genitals in a go-cart accident 8 months previously! Amanda amazingly has the exact reaction as Twila,"I can't understand it. I don't know who the father is". Amanda has since been raising an amazingly strong and healthy son who doctors describe as being "mildly retarded but with gifted abilities".

Cell phone dead zone
Any ATT Cellular Service customer who has passed through Blum, Texas can tell you that the closer you get to the center of town the more your signal is lost. Independant studies have shown that the center of the "dead zone" lies at the exact coordinates of the "communications tower". At the base of the antenna the signal is zero! Also, standard AM and FM reception is lost as you approach the base of the tower! Why would a "communications" tower cause communications to be lost?
