    The focus of my project was to develop suitable technology for long distance transportation of c.v. Suvarnarekha (South Indian Variety) and Mallika (North Indian Varity) mangoes, which were identified by Agricultural and Processed Food Export Development Authority (APEDA), New Delhi, as promising varieties, having all desirable characters, for export to Europe. By adopting new technology developed through this project, Suvarnarekha fruits could be stored up to 36 days, whereas fruits of Mallika could be stored up to 27 days, at low temperature (12 C, 85-95% RH), against their normal storage life of 22 days and 16 days for CVs. Suvarnarekha and Mallika, respectively.

    I underwent a six months Rural Agricultural Work Experience Program (RAWEP), at Nandikandi village, Sangareddy Dist., Andhra Pradesh, India. The objective was to impart technical skills in Improved Horticultural Practices to Rural Farmers. Major achievements in this program was, developing a model Tissue Culture Banana Orchard, to show difference between traditional and advanced methods of banana cultivation and improving the productivity of existing Mango Orchard (5 hectares) by 200%, adopting package of practices developed by Fruit Research Station.
