This is the Tigers getting ready for action at the 2nd annual Meet the Tiger Night.This was held at Noxapater Mississippi.
''Tigers Shine in Season Opener''

McNeel The Noxapater Tigers roared into the 1999 football season with a convincing 27-10 road victory over the Stringer Red Devils.The Red Devils took the opening kickoff driving deep into Tiger territory that included two 4th down conversions.However,the Red Devils had to settle for a 24 yard feild goal.The Tigers quickly found themselves behind 0-10 after Ryan Smith pass was intercepted and returned for a 52 yard touchdown by Chris Winfield.In the second quarter,Smith found De Hornesburger on a flag pattern in the corner of the end zone for a 26 yard touchdown pass.Scott Shurden add the PAT making it a 7-10 ballgame.The Tiger defense came up with the next big play,with Eric Lyon sacking QB Travis Taylor in the end zone for a safty.A 34 yard feild goal by Scott Surden put the Tigers up 12-10 at halftime.

The third quarter was played in the Tiger territory with the defense putting the pressure on the Red Devil's offense.The Tiger offense took advantage
of the short feild and De Hornesbuger scored on a right toss from one yard out.The holder,De Hornesbuger had trouble with the snap on the PAT,However,he scramble and found Derek Carter in the end zone to put the Tigers up 20-10.The Tigers had another scoring drive in the third quarter with Smith completing a 19 yard touchdown pass to Matthew Stone.Scott Surden add the PAT for a 27-10 lead.

Ryan Smith was 7 of 15 for 95 yards with 2 touchdowns and 1 interception.De Hornesbuger had 5 catches for 57 yards and one touchdown.The offense had 199 rushing yards on 34 carries with Derek Carter leading the way with 18 rushes for 62 yards and Ryan Smith with 6 rushes for 55 yards.

During the post game interview,Coach Jim Ray credited the play of the defense and the team speed with the win.The defensive line play of Eric lyon,J.E. Haynes,Corey Moor,and Walter Bates applied pressure all night.Derek Carter was solid at linebacker.Coach Ray was very pleased with the play of two new players,Sed Eichelberger and Brain Treplett.

The Noxapater Tigers will host Sebastopol this Friday Night at 7:30PM.
