What the heck,
I'll tell you nice Pops fans a few stories for once . .

I remembered back in 90, 91? One of the times I went to check out
the filming of Martin's TV show. Always thought it was a good place
for one of our old singers to get exposure or even discovered.
I also thought it would be the best place to see Pops again and say hi.
You figure Martin would be too busy driving the nation insane on stage
with his TV show to bother me. I say that because I never once had even
a five-minute conversation with her without him walking in. I mean gee,
I am a fan of hers too. You'd think Martin wanted his own set of fans
and didn't want to share them with Pops. I'm being funny of course, but
behind my mind that was a private thought I had. He certainly wasn't
going to be jealous of me that's for sure. I'm no Gabby Conception.
But the few times she was there when I was she was busy. The one time
I said hello she turned and greeted the wrong person!

Anyway, Martin usually notices me and my pals since we don't really look
like the regular audience that show up. More like the Blue Brothers one time.
I had sun glasses that were graded and sometimes I had no choice of wear.
He came up to me commenting on my black jacket. And that's when I was
admiring his shoes. He said something like "the Miami Vice look?"
hehe..
Wasn't sure if he was kidding or insulting. With him you may never know.

Me and another music dude had to come in a taxis that day and he offered
to give us a ride close to my old rented townhouse. He was happy to show off
his new toy. A mean looking Toyota truck that actually impressed the heck
out of me. You see them all over now. But that was the first time I ever seen one.

He seemed like a cool dude. But I never really got to know him enough to make a
solid opinion. But I know talent. You don't have to like him to see that. And we had
something very much in common. We both liked Barry Manilow music. In fact,
one of the longest conversations we had was about the material of Manilow music
we owned. We compared and I had a couple of songs he never heard yet. But he out
did me by a mile when he told me he use to sing on stage with him. Apparently,
Martin was in a group or choir before. And he sang in a Manilow concert along
with other background voices to the song "One Voice". I knew right then I couldn't top that.

Actually, I think I may have. But that's another web page story.   : )

Sorry old boy, but the game wasn't over.
Haven't you heard of a 4-point play? hehe..

return to Top

Sorry, but I didn't have any old Pops stories to share
that went along with the story matter at hand
