Gerry and Ellie have been at Glen Lake since the early 1950's. They started by renting a cottage by the narrows and then bought a strip of land on Little Glen Lake. The land was undeveloped and full of trees so it took time and love to make it usable for the Giffin's summer home.
They started with a small one room cabin, transporting lumber and supplies from downstate to the lake. Ellie and her 4 children spent summers here while Gerry commuted from the Detroit area on the weekends. As time passed, Gerry decided to expand the family cottage to accommodate the growing family. He designed the three bedroom A-frame cottage and with the help of a neighbor built it on the beach. When it came time to retire, Gerry and Ellie built their current home, a year round brick two story...on the beach at Little Glen Lake. The small cottage and the A-frame home are now the Giffin's summer rentals.
Staying at the Giffin's year after year, is like going to a family reunion. Many of their renters have been coming "Up North" to Little Glen Lake for 10 years or more. Even the grandchildren love coming from California, Washington and other parts of Michigan, to stay with Grandpa and Grandma for a few weeks in the summer.
