In memory of Greg Moore

The story through my eyes

One day as I was cycling through channels I came across an "Indy car" race. One car that caught my attention was that bright blue car. Engine humming like a hornet and with a sponsor like "Players" how can't it be cool? It was a great run for him that day. By the end of the race I was hooked. That was in 1997 and in 1998 I had forgotten all about it, and kick myself to this day. When the season ended I (not purposely) forgot all about CART. Meaning to get back into it in the 2000 season my friend called me on November 1, 1999 and said "Hey Lee, remember that Indy driver you liked?" That was all I needed to hear to know that I missed my chance. I put off two years of fanship to the driver I had so much admired and now it was too late. I was too miserable over the tragedy to watch the 2000 season or care until one day, while aimlessly wandering through old bookmarks I came across my old CART folder. I followed the link to players-racing.com. When I saw that beautiful blue car, however absent of my "99", the fire re-kindled in me and I keep watching, for the sake of the team that believed in the young racer from Maple Ridge, British Columbia.

"Red Gloves Rule!"

This quote by Max Papis confused many people. "Greg Moore: A Legacy of Spirit" explains it. "Today was very special" Papis said. Asked to explain further, he said only, "I want to keep those thoughts to myself. Ric, you know what I mean." Some drivers wear white gloves, some blue, some the color of their uniform. Max Papis wears red gloves. Greg Moore wore red gloves. Those gloves stood out like a sore thumb in that bright blue car and the quote wants people to remember Greg's passion for friendship and racing to be just as vivid.
