The Make-Up Tests

Marilyn recieved an ovation and wolf whistles from the cast and crew as she emerged from her dressing room to pose for six hours of these hair and makeup tests as Ellen Arden. George Cukor failed to show up for these tests, purposely trying to intimidate the star. She'd recently lost 15 pounds, and everyone agreed she looked the best she had in years.       Hairsylist Sidney Guilaroff and designer Jean Louis worked together on the new hi-fashion look of Marilyn in the film. She had turned down "Something" twice before, now Fox insisted that she do it in order to fulfill her contract. Her head was clear, and she wanted to get this last contract obligation for 20th Century Fox done with.

The light green bikini in these shots was made so that it covered Marilyn's naval. Although it was tested, there is no known footage of her donning suit.

The matching dress and jacket being tested in these photos are a re-vamped costume from Marilyn's 1960 film "Let's Make Love".
