Filling dings in a banjo neck
Dings and dents in the banjo neck will occur if the banjo is used, and it should be used. These finish dents were not very deep and at least some of the finish remained in the area of the dent and the stain did not have to be touched up for this job. I applied a medium viscosity super glue to the dent and let that set. I do not recommend using an accelerator in this case as they tend to set the glue with a white tint. After the glue has set I file the top of the the glue that has set up higher than the surface of the banjo neck. I do not file all the way to the rest of the finish but leave a tiny amount of glue above the original finish.
The remaining glue above the finish can then be sanded with 220, 400, then 0000 steel wool and finally polished with a fine abrasive like is shown below.
